Here are the regular Central Oregon jams open to the public that I often attend each month. Feel free to participate. Bring your instruments, hope to see you at one of these jams.

The 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, all Banjo Jam at the River Rim Coffee House in Bend.

The 2nd Sunday of each month the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Jam/Dance 1:00-4:00 PM in Redmond at the VFW Hall on Veterans Way. All acoustic instruments as well as fiddles.

The 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00-9:15 PM a bluegrass jam at the Bend/Lapine Schools Administration Board room, top floor of the building. All acoustic instruments welcome.

The 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM, all Banjo Jam at my home in Redmond.

The 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00-9:15 PM a bluegrass jam at the Bend/Lapine Schools Administration Board room, top floor of the building. All acoustic instruments welcome.

Friday January 6, 2012 Little Christmas, An Epiphany celebration at the Powell Butte Retreat Center.

Thursday January 19, 2012 Mark, Jo and LeRoy will play at the Whispering Winds Assisted Care home at 2:30 PM for one hour. This is open to the public. We will play a mix of Bluegrass, Swing, Ragtime and fiddle tunes.

Thursday and Friday January 26 & 27 LeRoy and Mark Barringer will be performing at Ray's Grocery Store on Bend's westside from 2:00 to 6:00 PM as roving musicians for their Vendor Fair. 

Mid February LeRoy, Mark and Jo Booser will perform at Taylors Sausage Co in Bend. Exact date and time will be posted soon.

February 7th at 7:30 PM Several of us Central Oregon Bluegrass musicians will perform at the Obsidian Middle School in Redmond for Sandra Gregg's guitar class. This is an annual presentation to this class to show her beginner guitar students how much fun one can have playing music.

Friday/Sat April 6&7 LeRoy will be at the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers annual convention/jam/performance at Rickreall Oregon. This event is held on the Polk County Fairgrounds and there are public performances each evening. Food and Beverage is available and lots of jamming goes on throughout the weekend.

Thurs/Frid/SatJune 14,15,16, LeRoy will perform at the Country Music Jamboree at the fair grounds in Burns Oregon. This is a great event hosted by the Burns area Old Time Fiddlers. Lots of camping, food, instrument workshops, jamming and fun. LeRoy provides a banjo workshop for the event.

Saturday July 14 The band will perform for the Smith Rock 15 K Run. We start at 6:00 AM and play until about 10:00 AM.

Sunday July 15 The band will perform 11:30 AM at the Mt Angel Seminary for an Oblate's picnic.

Wednesday afternoon/evening July 18, 2012, The Sidekicks will play in the "Summer Concerts in the Park" in Redmond Oregon. More details on this gig as we get closer.

July 28/29 Sat/Sun The band will play both Saturday and Sunday at various times throughout the day for the Great Oregon Steamup near Brooks Oregon just off Interstate 5 north of Salem Oregon. This is an annual event featuring old tractors, trains, fire trucks, farm equipment of all kinds, food booths and lots of music and good times. Bring the family. A really fun venue. August 17,18,19 The High and Dry Bluegrass Festival will be held East of Bend Oregon at the  Runway Ranch. More details as we get closer to the date.

September 29 LeRoy and Jo Booser will play for the annual Opportunity Center 5 K run held at the DD Ranch Pumpkin Patch near Terrebonne from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Saturday November 3rd The annual Hoedown for Hunger will be held at the Bend Community Center. For more detail their website is http://bendscommunitycenter.org/hoedown-for-hunger  The Banjo Gallimaufry Band will be playing too. This event features lots of local bands throughout the day and raises lots of money for the hungry folks in our community.

Early December Advent celebration at the Baker Diocese Retreat Center near Powell Butte. More info later.

Monday December 31, 2012 The band will play for the 15th year for Hoodoo Ski Area's New Years Eve celebration. Free fireworks at 9:00 PM, free music and dancing (ours) and lots of Night riding (ski/snowboard) for a fee. A fun time to be had by all. From 6:00 PM to a few minutes after Midnight.

Friday February 4 LeRoy, Mark Barringer and Maggie Jackson will perform at the River Rim Coffee House in South Bend 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

 Thursday and Friday February 17 and 18 LeRoy and Mark Barringer will be performing at Ray's Grocery Store on Bend's westside from 3:00 to 5:30 PM as roving musicians for their Vendor Fair. 

Tuesday February 22nd LeRoy, Dick Cahall, Elaine Berry, and Jeff Johntston, all banjo players, will conduct a banjo demonstration for Sandra Gregg's guitar class at Obsidian Middle School in Redmond. This demonstration will be from 7:30 to 8:00 PM.

Saturday February 26th  Jo Booser, LeRoy Newport, Pat Erwert, Jeff Johnston, and Scott Michaels will perform at a Benefit fundraiser for Jim Bull. Jim is a local sound engineer and sound system installer who has helped many with his talents. He has throat cancer and needs help with his medical bills. Location will be in Sister's at the Three Creeks Brewery Company. We play from 9:00 PM to 10:15 PM. Other musicians will precede our playing.

 Thursday March 3rd The banjo jam this week will be at the River Rim Coffee House in Bend. Location is the River Rim Shopping Mall on South Brookswood Avenue two miles south of Powers Road. We'll start at 7:00 PM. Come one come all.

Thursday March 10th LeRoy performed solo for Carlene Kitchin's foster home for four senior citzens. I played mostly Old Swing and Ragtime songs. A fun time.

Friday March 18th LeRoy played with the Old Time Fiddlers at the Bend Senior Center for a dinner/dance social evening. 7 to 9 PM.

Friday March 25th LeRoy will perform with the Bitterbrush Band at Dudley's Bookstore in Bend on Minnesota Street. We'll play from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This is a free perfomance. Dudley's serves snacks and beverages.

Saturday March 26th LeRoy will again perform with the Bitterbrush Band at the High Desert Museum from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This is a fun venue for all the family. Come see the great exhibits at the Museum and enjoy the music. They also serve lunches.

Thursday March 21st LeRoy and Judy play for the Central Oregon Adult Foster Care, LLC. This is a one hour performance for the elderly folks. A fun time playing nostalgia tunes and sharing stories.

Wednesday April 6th The banjo jam this week will be at the River Rim Coffee House in Bend. Location is the River Rim Shopping Mall on SouthWest  Brookswood Avenue two 1/2 miles south of Powers Road. We'll start at 7:00 PM. Come one come all. Good food and beverage available.

Wednesday May 4th There will be another banjo jam at the River Rim Coffee house in Bend starting at 7:00 PM.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday May 5,6,7 There will be a weekend jam hosted by the McLain family at the Silver Lake Fire Hall. This is a fun event of continuous jamming and potlucks. The McLain family hails from Lakeview Oregon and every year they host this great jamming weekend.

Friday May 13 Mark, LeRoy and Maggie will again perform at the River Rim Coffee House in Southwest Bend. We play 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Come on out for supper and beverage. This is a fun and relaxed venue for the entire family.

Thurs/Frid/SatJune 16, 17, 18 LeRoy will perform at the Country Music Jamboree at the fair grounds in Burns Oregon. This is a great event hosted by the Burns area Old Time Fiddlers. Lots of camping, food, instrument workshops, jamming and fun. LeRoy provides a banjo workshop for the event.

Thursday and Friday June 23 and 24 Mark and LeRoy will be roving musicians at Rays Food Place on Bend's Westside. We will be there most of the afternoon playing the old favorites to the customers during Ray's vendor food fair. Some on over, do your shopping and sing a few songs with us. 

Friday June 24th  Central Oregon Bluegrass players will combine with Central Oregon Barbershop singers to perform what we are calling a BarberGrass Benefit. Concert will be held at the Presbyterian Church on 9th Street in Bend. This will be a unique show combining the talents of Bluegrass and Barbershop diciplines. It should be a really fun time for all in attendance. There will be an admission and it will help support the High and Dry BG Festival and the activities of the Barbershop community. The show starts at 7:30 PM.

Saturday July 9 The band will perform for the Smith Rock 15 K Run. We start at 6:00 AM and play until about 10:00 AM.

Saturday July 16 While Betsy, Theron, and Sam are in town for the above two gigs for the Good Sam RV Rally we'll play on Saturday evening at the River Rim Coffee House from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Come on out to see and hear my Willamette Valley Sidekicks. We'll play a lot of swing, ragtime and the usual bluegrass songs.

Thursday July 21, LeRoy and Judy will perform for the Central Oregon Adult Foster Care LLc, in Redmond at 10:00 AM.

Wednesday August 17, Mark Barringer and LeRoy boarded a tour bus with a financial planner and his invited clients and played music on a double house boat tour of (two houseboats lashed together) Lake Billy Chinook. We played for a good six hours. Great lunch and fun being with the folks.

Thursday and Friday August 18 & 19, Mark Barringer and LeRoy performed as roving musicians at the Rays Food Place vendor fair in Prineville. We played from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM each day. What a fun way to play music. No hassle with a sound system. We got to meet lots of fine folks, we nibbled on food samples, and played music while walking around the store for two hours.

Saturday August 20, LeRoy played a solo gig for a 50th wedding anniversary. A fun hour and half playing the old swing and pop standards appropriate for this couple and their guests.

August 19, 20, 21 The High and Dry Bluegrass Festival will be held East of Bend Oregon at the  Runway Ranch. On Saturday the Barbergrass group did a set on the tweener stage. Our "All Banjo Band" (Banjo Gallimaufry) performed on the main stage on Sunday 8/21/11 from 12:05 to 12:50 PM

Friday September 9th 3:00 to 6:00 PM, LeRoy and Mark Barringer as roving musicians at the Rays Food Place in Prineville during the motorcycle rally.  

Banjo Jam, Sept 29 at LeRoy's home in Redmond. All jams start at 7:00 PM.

Monday September 19, The banjo group will be performing in Sisters for a private party.

Friday September 23rd at 6:30 PM, LeRoy and his wife Judy will perform at the River Rim Coffee House in Bend. This will be a set of Bluegrass, Swing and Ragtime songs. Judy plays a laptop drum kit and the spoons while LeRoy plays the banjo. Come on out. You can learn to dance the Charleston dance from Judy and she can also teach you how to play the spoons. Sidekicks Bluegrass and Nostalgia Band

 


 

   The LeRoy and the Sidekicks Band performs for weddings, private parties, family reunions, gospel shows, county fairs, assisted care facilities, birthdays, conventions, trade fairs, festivals, ski area events, dances, and organizational camp outs. We have been performing since 1989 and provide a wide variety of music ranging through bluegrass, country, folk, swing, and ragtime.
